Well, here we are at the end of 2019. What’s changed? Alot. I have lost a big brother; lost weight; got a new job; and perhaps a new job opportunity. I have been working diligently to restore the “norm” to our life here. It’s been an up-and-down affair for some time…to say the least. The layout and model train stuff has suffered right along with it, as one doesn’t feel much like doing fun stuff when all else is up in the air. As we move closer and closer to debt-free status…I am forever ready to take the plunge and buy a new, smaller home with a basement. However, in the meantime, I am quite grateful for this mansion we live in now…and it’s paid for. So, for the time being, I am building the trains here…now that things have settled a bit.
Bob Sprague (www.bobstrackplans.com) has come up with a great plan for my layout. I am really excited to get going with it now. We have made a few more changes and he will be sending me another revision; and I will post that PDF on the track plan page. WordPress makes it really easy to display PDF’s and I like the built in features you get with the plugins.
I started adding pages to the rolling stock page…the links are there for you to look at the various engine, caboose, and freight car projects that will be needed and used on this layout. My hope is to share my techniques and builds with the HO scale community so that you can get inspired and build your own stuff…or maybe you just like to read the blog, and look at the site? I understand…because I DO.
I took advantage of ExactRail’s annual Christmas sale and added about 37 more Quads…I have a really nice large fleet of them now…and I will add more if they do more runs of them…or should I say “when they run more”…? I can’t say enough about ExactRail and how much this car means to me. It’s why I am still doing model trains to this day…combine that with Athearn Genesis…and you have my entire fleet…or a major portion of it. Athearn is getting more money if/when they do a MoPac Extended Vision caboose in their new Genesis caboose series…so I am looking forward to seeing what 2020 brings for us. They’ve already announced two runs of cars and we’re still in 2019…I am very excited about these cars…to say the least.
So, 2020 is the year we get the Joppa Sub up and running finally. It was a year ago that I tore out the entire room and started over…and I am now a year into it…with a new layout plan and ready to go. So, onward!!!
