June has arrived; hard to believe that we are halfway through 2020 at this point. The COVID-19 pandemic seems to be calming down a bit here in Illinois. We’ve been fortunate to have the leadership necessary at the top of our State Government to make the difficult decisions necessary to preserve as many lives as possible and to prevent the spread of the virus to more areas of our state than those already hit hard. Kudos again to Governor Pritzker.

The Layout will resume construction once I am able to get to IKEA and get more IVAR shelving units. I can order them online…but they can’t deliver them until the end of June…and I am hopeful that we’ll be able to buy online and pickup in St. Louis before too much longer. These shelving units are really nice…they are little more expensive that buying the lumber at a lumber yard…but they are already sanded; assembled; and simply snap together with the shelving being at the height of my choosing.

Spring cleaning is still in full force as far as the surplus engines go…I’ve cleared out at least 10 units thus far and am looking to clear another 5 or 6. The final roster will include 4 GP38-2’s; 6 GP15-1’s; 3 B23-7’s; and 1 U23B. That’s more than enough power for my needs. I do have 2 GP50’s as well…but I am on the fence with their disposition at present. I have some of these listed on eBay…at my eBay site…tad958. I am now getting to the Genesis GP38-2 parts and drives; so stay tuned. There are tons of parts that I have stock piled over the years for these various projects that I am going to abandon. I am pricing these to move; so if you see a lot of something suits your needs; sent me an offer.

I plan to continue the social distancing thing for a little while longer; and to continue to follow the guidelines as set up by the Department of Health Services and the Illinois Dept. of Public Health; as well as the Governor. So far, so good. To all those who are suffering with COVID-19; I express my sincere well wishes; and hope for a speedy recovery. I hope next month I will more to share.

I am a Southern Illinois Native. I am a fan of nostalgia, and the history of Southern Illinois. Model Railroading has been a large part of my life; and it helps serve that interest. Through this interest I have learned much about the region; the people; and the industries that gave us all hope of building a life beyond our formal education. Small Towns in the Midwest built this nation...and this site aims to share that fact with the world.

Great to see you discovered Genesis and there highly detailed locomotives. Did the same as you did with my Southern Pacific/ Cotton Belt fleet. Also with my limited space only (4) Gp38-2, (3) GP40-2, (4) MP15ac, and one SW1500 made the cut. The SD40t-2, SD45, and SD45t-2 are not needed since its an industrial lead (branch). MP15ac engines are like GP15-1/GP15ac are to you been waiting for a good model for a long time.
