March 2023

March is here…along with the uncertain weather conditions that early spring brings. Lots of changes around here to report. We are selling the house in Centralia after all. I will relocate back to my home area in West Frankfort IL. The layout will be reconstructed in a new home; as I am looking for homes in that area with a full basement. I am grateful for the years in Centralia; but I have long wanted to go home to West Frankfort and Little Egypt. I will not rule out living in Sesser; Benton; or even Pinckneyville, either. I am fond of all those towns as well.

I have been working on projects for other people and plan to have them ready to go this week. I have been backed up by the move and other related and unrelated issues. I am also working hard on the house to get it ready to list on the market. I don’t see the house staying on the market for long.

Things are also in flux regarding the layout itself. If I am able to land the full size basement that I have always wanted; the full version of the Sub might re-surface…or I might just go with a closer-to-scale version of the current plan and get busy. At any rate, I’ll continue rebuilding my engine fleet as I sit idle while the move is in progress.

I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life and retirement or semi-retirement. I might take on a few projects in the hobby in the near future, but time will tell on that. See you in April. Hopefully, at a new address.

I am a Southern Illinois Native. I am a fan of nostalgia, and the history of Southern Illinois. Model Railroading has been a large part of my life; and it helps serve that interest. Through this interest I have learned much about the region; the people; and the industries that gave us all hope of building a life beyond our formal education. Small Towns in the Midwest built this nation...and this site aims to share that fact with the world.
